How to Care for Oneida and Viners Cutlery.
As the name suggests, stainless steel is much more resistant to marking and staining than normal steel. but it does need a little care to keep it looking its best and prevent it from being damaged by everyday corrosive elements.
Salt, detergents and some food acids can attack the surface of stainless steel, and start the corrosion process. This can show up as small black 'pits' on the metal or as unsightly rust marks which may or may not polish off |

Tips to prevent damage to Oneidia and Viners cutlery
Wash your Oneida and Viners cutlery as soon as possible after use to remove food residue from the heads and blades.
Do not leave Oneida and Viners cutlery in soapy water to soak for long periods. Mineral salts (present in tap water) and detergent will eat away at the surface of the steel leaving unsightly rust marks or pits.
Once clean do not leave Oneida and Viners cutlery to air-dry, but wipe off the water with a tea towel before putting away. Air-drying cutlery can leave whitish water marks on the surface of the metal that can dull and damage the surface of the cutlery.
If you are washing Oneida and Viners cutlery in the dishwasher, follow the manufacturer`s instructions as to the detergent and keeping the rinse aid topped up. Make sure the water softner is kept filled with dishwasher salt as the manufacturer recommends.
Avoid using the rinse and hold function on Oneida and viners cutlery in a dishwasher - this has the same effect as soaking cutlery.
When the dishwasher has finished, take the cutlery out as soon as posible. Wipe any damp residue off the pieces before putting them away.
Oneida and Viners stainless steel cutlery may be polished from time to time with Stellar stainless steel cleaner, which will remove minor marks such as salt stains or water marking and maintain the shine. Never use silver or any other type of metal polish on stainless steel as this will damage the surface. |
