Denby Imperial Blue

Denby know a thing or two when it comes to creating beautiful and durable tableware. Well they have been doing it since the industrial revolution. Using local iron-rich Derbyshire clay and unique glazes, the recipes of which are kept a closely guarded secret, their ethos has always been to design tableware that is both practical and beautiful.

A lot of the time-honoured skills and traditional hand-crafting techniques that have been honed over the years are still used today. From raw clay, natural slip, craftsman’s moulds, biscuit firing, glazing and glost firing each piece of stoneware will pass through 20 pairs of hands before receiving the Denby seal of approval.

Imperial Blue Range

One of Denby’s iconic colours, Imperial Blue has proved one of their most popular ranges since its creation in 1989. And it shows no sign of going out of fashion. A pleasing combination of striking cobalt blues and cool, crisp whites give this range timeless appeal. A range that sits comfortably in both traditional and contemporary environments.

The comprehensive Denby Imperial Blue tableware range includes a selection of sets as well as individual cups, mugs, plates, bowls and saucers. Serveware and storageware is also available as is a range of smaller ‘occasion’ sets including tea sets, Asian dining sets and entertaining sets. A range of Imperial Blue glassware and wooden utensils completes the look.

The great thing about Denby Imperial Blue stoneware is its versatility. It can be used in the oven and microwave to cook or warm food and can also be used to store food in the fridge or freezer. It’s dishwasher safe too. Being tough and durable it is perfect for everyday use as well as for special occasion dining.

As previously mentioned, Denby Imperial Blue tableware is designed for everyday use and with a little care and attention it will still look as-good-as-new many years down the line. If you stack plates or bowls make they are rotated so the pieces at the bottom of the pile get used as often as the ones on top.

Although dishwasher safe we recommend hand washing Imperial Blue stoneware to prevent any discolouration that could occur over time. Even though Imperial Blue tableware is oven and freezer safe avoid extreme changes in temperature which can crack stoneware. This is known as thermal shock known as thermal shock and can happen to any type of pottery.
