THRILLED DOESN'T COVER IT.
I have wanted a stand mixer ever since my Mom's Kenwood died after more than 35 years service. Indeed I bought a Swan make stand mixer two years ago but it was woeful, left more ingredients untouched in the bowl than it mixed and so it was returned. So it was with trepidation and quite frankly little expectation. I ordered The KVC 3100W. Immediately after unwrapping it my husband - who is an engineer - gave it a nod of approval and then when we started it up we knew it was good. The 1000w motor sounds 'happy' and is quiet and the adjustment allows you to set the beater to an 'efficient' mix.Making my first cake I watched carefully to see how much of the mix remained untouched on the sides of the bowl and the answer is none. The planetary action makes sure it's all incorporated within four revolutions. (I am aware how sad this makes me sound) Other reviewers have commented that this will last many years and I had not been convinced believing the adage that nothing is made as good these days but now I have confidence that this machine will stand the test of time and it's made in Britain! I aim to buy a spare bowl for proving so I can carry on 'making'. I think I will opt for the plastic one as the original mixer had as they are reasonably priced. I do intend to buy a cover but for now I am enjoying seeing it on the work top. If you, like me, are undecided about this machine I would say 'go for it' you will not be disappointed. My only regret is that Kenwood don't use colours for the metal bodies. I think I remember a 'rainbow striped' K Mixer a few years back which looked fab. My machine in a pastel colour would have been 'the icing on one the many cakes' I will now be creating. I think the attraction for the KitchenAid which I believe is the main competition for Kenwood is the fab colours and retro shaping and certainly not the 350w motor or performance. My final words to those obviously (if you're bothering to read this review) considering this Kenwood is 'you will not be disappointed.' Great service also from Harts of Stur. It arrived the next day with DPD. And there was an offer of a 'free Kenwood attachment' which made the already most competitive price a no brainer. Thank you.
