Top quality craftsmanship
Denby have been creating beautiful and durable tableware for over 200 years. Using locally sourced Derbyshire clay and unique secret glazes, Denby’s ethos has always been to design tableware that is both practical and beautiful. A lot of experience has been gained and skills honed over the past 200 years, but little has changed in the production methods used to create Denby stoneware.
Iron-rich raw clay is still sourced locally; Natural slip is made from a combination of clay and water; Pots are shaped using craftsman’s moulds then biscuit fired ready for decoration by skilled craftsmen and women; Items are still hand dipped into unique secret glazes before the final glost firing which gives Denby tableware its strength and durability. In total each piece of stoneware passes through 20 pairs of hands before it receives Denby’s seal of approval.
Linen Range
Established in 2004, Denby Linen exudes calmness with its neutral oatmeal tones and simple aesthetic. Linen is a colour that will blend seamlessly into your home creating a clean and uncluttered look that lets your food do the talking.
But look beyond the seemingly simplistic chic design and you will see the fine detail that takes this colour to a different level such as the plate rims which are hand painted and the Denby stamp of approval. Denby Linen is available in a range of tableware (which includes a large selection of varying sized and shaped bowls and plates) and serveware.
Denby Linen tableware features
Denby Linen stoneware is extremely versatile. Use it in the oven and microwave to cook or warm food or pop it in the fridge or freezer when storing food. It can also go into the dishwasher. Tough and durable enough for everyday it is also perfect for special occasion dining. Many Denby items also have more than one use.
For example a sugar bowl also makes a perfect ramekin and the pasta bowl can double as a baking dish. Clever and thoughtful design has gone into other items too - oblong dishes accommodate a sheet of lasagne (no more snapping sheets in half to fill in the gaps!) and coffee cups will fit underneath modern coffee pod machines.
Denby Linen tableware has been made to be used everyday. With a little care and attention it will continue to look like new for years to come. Rotate stacks of plates and bowls so the pieces at the bottom get used as often as the top ones.
Linen tableware is dishwasher safe but we recommend hand washing to prevent any discolouration that could occur from continually cleaning in the dishwasher. To prevent stoneware from cracking avoid extreme changes in temperatures (known as thermal shock). If at all possible heat up or cool down stoneware slowly.
