Casserole Dish

There is nothing better on cold winter nights than delicious casseroles, stews, or slow cooking pot roasts. And there is no doubt that for the best casserole recipes you need tried and tested casserole dishes.

The beauty of the best casserole dishes are that they are safe for oven use and use on the hob. Oftentimes this means you can make a delicious meal using just one pot. From browning meat like chicken thighs on the hob, to cooking with a tasty, rich sauce in the oven, the casserole pot is a versatile piece of cookware.

If you want to cook a traditional casserole then find a casserole dish that is oven safe and suitable for hob use. Most casserole dishes are now suitable for all hob types, including induction hob - but do check just in case. You will want a casserole with a lid so that it can cook nice and slow in the oven, at an even heat, whilst staying moist.

Many casserole dishes can also be used purely on the hob (but always check!) and come in a range of larger sizes that are great for a family sized serving of casseroles, soups and stews. If you don't want to use the oven, you could also consider a saute pan which can play a similar role on the hob.

There is no doubt that one of the most famous manufacturers of casserole dishes is Le Creuset. Their high performing and colourful enamelled cast iron casseroles are a style icon and a true kitchen classic, with a large variety of colour and size choices.

If you're looking for other versatile cooking equipment then you may wish to consider a pressure cooker.

Stock Pots

As the name suggests, stock pots are typically used for creating stocks, although they are usually of a size that makes them ideal for cooking casseroles and stews. If you're looking for a good quality stockpot but also dabble in making jam, then consider a preserving pan which can play a similar role due to it's large size.
